Ready for Air

A founder’s playbook for selling on TV shopping channels

Methodology

How Ready for Air Builds Its Guidance

Last updated November 2026. Published by Cydney Mar.

The guidance on Ready for Air comes from Cydney Mar’s own career in product development and live TV selling, combined with public information from the networks and named, published statistics. This page explains what the site relies on, how launch paths are compared, and what it will not claim.

Where does the advice on this site come from?

It comes from three sources. First, Cydney Mar’s experience: 45+ years designing and building product, 15+ years selling her own collections on QVC in 8 countries, and more than 800 hours of live television. Second, the networks’ own public information, which this site points to rather than paraphrasing as current terms. Third, published statistics, each named with its source.

What this site will not do

  • State network fees, vendor terms or segment lengths it cannot confirm.
  • Promise acceptance by a network, sales figures or any other result.
  • Invent testimonials, clients or numbers.
  • Comment on network hosts, departures or gossip.
  • Present the site as independent; it is published by Cydney Mar.

How we chose the comparison criteria

The retail, DTC or TV comparison judges each path on the same six criteria: how shoppers meet the product, what the founder controls, the inventory pattern, presentation demand, how fast feedback arrives, and whether Cydney’s pathway covers it. No path is ranked first, because the right one depends on the product. The comparison was written by Cydney Mar, who publishes this site.

How testimonials are used

Quotations on this site are taken from testimonials published on Cydney Mar’s own website, attributed to the person who gave them. They describe individual experiences; results vary, and no outcome is promised.

Questions founders ask

Will working with a consultant guarantee my product gets on QVC?

No. No consultant can guarantee acceptance by a network, and no such promise is made here: networks make their own decisions. What expert guidance can do is help you arrive with a production-ready product, a clear story, sound costs and a realistic inventory plan, which are the things a network will look at.

Can presentation coaching really change TV sales?

Coaching cannot guarantee sales, and no result is promised here. What it can do is help you communicate clearly under pressure. Greg Castanza of Halo2Cloud wrote that Cydney has been instrumental in his company’s success because she gave him so many useful tips and wonderful advice, and that after hundreds of airings he still turns to her.

Should I launch my product on TV, in retail or direct-to-consumer?

There is no single right answer, and Cydney Mar works with founders on all three. TV suits products that demonstrate well and founders who can fund inventory up front. Retail suits products ready for buyers and shelves. Direct-to-consumer suits founders who want control of their brand and customer data. Many brands combine them.

How profitable is QVC?

QVC’s own results are reported by its parent company in public financial filings, which are the right source for current figures. For a founder, the more useful question is whether your product is profitable on TV: that depends on your costs, the network’s terms, returns and how much inventory sells. Cost and margin work is part of the Concept-to-Reality Pathway.

Why are so many vendors leaving QVC?

This site has no data on vendor departures and does not speculate about them. In general, vendors choose and leave sales channels based on margins, inventory risk, terms and how well their products perform. If you are weighing TV against retail or direct-to-consumer, compare all three on the same criteria before committing money to inventory.
